Bubble Pop!

I keep saying I'm going to update soon, and then I don't. So this time I'm going to be realistic: I don't know when I'll update the next time, maybe tomorrow, maybe in a month. Time will tell!

Anyway, today I'm going to talk about Hyuna. She recently released this video:

The song is everything it needs to be, it's addictiong and fun and impossible to get out of your head. The video is also everything it needs to be, fun and sexy.

It pisses me off when girls are accused of being too sexy or slutty or whatever you wanna call it. Especially when you know that the people accusing the "slutty" girls are the same people who drools over boybands all day long, just hoping for them to take off their shirts. Sex sells, for both boys and girls. The celebrities making sexy videos are just doing what they have to do in order to make it in the music industry. Both boys and girls do it, but people complain way more when it's about the girls.

I don't like the fact that you have to take off your clothes to get recognition. Especially considering most kpop-idols are very talented, and should be able to make it just from showing off their huge talent. Take Hyuna for example, she's a very good live-performer, and a good dancer. But she still needs to be sexy to make anyone remember her. As I said, it's a shame that she has to take off her clothes, but can she really be accused for it? She's giving the people what they want, and still people are complaining.

I don't think being sexy is a crime. If you want to wear revealing clothes you should be able to do so, and noone should look down on you or take you less seriously for that. I don't think Hyuna is wearing to revealing clothes in this video, she can wear whatever she wants, she should still be recognized as a talented singer and dancer, not some kind of object.

I think this a big problem in todays society. Girls have a hard time being taken seriously, it seems like whatever a girl does, it's wrong. Don't be fat, but don't be too skinny either. Wear makeup, but not too much. Don't be ugly, but don't be too sexy either.

Boys make sexy videos all the time, but they are still recognized as musicians, not objects. Take Mirotic - DBSK for example. That is a very sexy video with a very sexy dance. DBSK made lots of performances of that song, showing a lot of skin and the fans loved it! But DBSK are still recognized as amazing singers and dancers. They are still being taken seriously, getting acting opportunities, musicals, and directing. Jaejoong as a director is serious. Imagine if Hyuna wanted to direct a concert, would people believe in her, or would they laugh at her? Is she less capable of directing because she's a sexy girl? (I know that Hyuna hasn't been in the industry nearly as long as DBSK, so comparing them is a bit odd, but it's a very good and obvious example for those who never has thought about this before.)

I love Hyuna. She's talented. This is a fun song. That's all.
